Dialect

an interpreted programming language with GUI, networking, and object oriented capabilities

The Dialect language (a.k.a. Aristar Dialect Pro) source code has been released to the public under an Apache style Open Source license. The source code is available on sourceforge.net directly from the CVS repository and also as a separate zip package file.

Dialect is an advanced, general purpose programming system for Windows 9x/ME/2000/XP and CE that allows developers to write applications with the following features:

  • Cross-platform code (Win32 / WinCE).
  • Capacity to pre-compile code for rapid execution.
  • Integrated development environment with debugger that works on desktop and handheld PCs.
  • Support for sockets, serial ports, files, registry access, DLLs, GUI elements, encryption (BlowFish), printing, etc.
  • Exception handling mechanisms.
  • Regular expressions.
  • Generation of stand-alone executables.
  • ADO database support.
  • The comprehensive help file is also available as a printable (Word) document.
